The EU Competitiveness Compass Points to Medicon Valley

We’re looking forward to the Annual Summit organised by Medicon Valley Alliance on 10 November in Copenhagen. DiaUnion is part of the session “Preventive Health – Nordic leadership through cross-border collaboration” and Markus Lundgren will present our work on early detection of type 1 diabetes (T1D) during the past five years.

Early detection is not just a scientific breakthrough – it’s becoming a public health priority In Denmark, early detection is now defined as a core element of personalised medicine, and the Government and Danish Regions have committed to a number of concrete initiatives in the new National Strategy for Personalised Medicine 2025–2027.

In Sweden, precision medicine is a central pillar of the national life science strategy, seen as a strategic focus on excellence, long-term competitiveness, and enhanced patient outcomes.

At DiaUnion, we believe this alignment across borders is key to unlocking earlier diagnoses of type 1 diabetes, better outcomes, and more sustainable healthcare overall.

The Summit session will also showcase other Medicon Valley flagship initiatives where Medicon Valley Alliance is a central partner alongside universities, hospitals, and other key stakeholders in Region Skåne and the Capital Region of Copenhagen:
ReproUnion – a platform for driving reproductive health innovation
Dent2Health – bridging oral and systemic health

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience how the Øresund region is shaping the future of health through science, policy, and partnerships. Join the MVA Summit on 10 November (free for MVA members).

Also attending from DiaUnion are Program Director, Finn Stensbjerg Kristensen and Head of Communication, Mette Bach Dyremose – ready to connect with familiar and new faces in both the MVA and T1D communities.
