At this year’s Folkemødet, we gathered politicians, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, and researchers and initiated the conversation on early detection of type 1 diabetes – to give children and families a better start to life with diabetes.
At the same time, we kicked off the Alliance for Early Detection of T1D! The alliance is a partnership between Steno Diabetes Center Copenhagen, Diabetesforeningen, Type1 – think tank for type 1 diabetes, Sanofi, Medicon Valley Alliance and DiaUnion.
The objective is clear: We work to ensure that children and close relatives of people with type 1 diabetes get the opportunity for early detection – before the onset of type 1 diabetes. This can help provide a softer and safer transition into life with type 1 diabetes – and, importantly, help prevent serious complications. Thank you to everyone who participated and shared their knowledge, stories, and hopes at Folkemødet.
And this is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing the work and inviting more people to join the table in the fight for a healthier and safer life with type 1 diabetes – for those affected and their families.
