About Us
DiaUnion is a center of excellence in research into type 1 diabetes and related autoimmune diseases
The Nordics represent strong and internationally recognized expertise in the fields of early detection, genetics, and immunology related to type 1 diabetes (T1D), as well as associated autoimmune diseases. To bring such competencies together, DiaUnion 1.0 was established in 2020 with support from the EU Interreg ÖKS programme and anchored within the non-profit organization Medicon Valley Alliance.
DiaUnion 2.0 was launched in 2024 with a €3.9 million research grant from Sanofi. Our main ambition is to establish permanent early detection programmes for T1D, while also helping to reduce both the individual burden of the disease and the costs to society.
Each year, you can meet DiaUnion at a range of international conferences and events, including Folkemødet, Almedalsveckan, and World Diabetes Day.
